Thriving in Early Childhood
Spiritual Development
“TRAIN UP A CHILD IN THE WAY HE SHOULD GO; AND EVEN WHEN HE IS OLD, HE WILL NOT DEPART FROM IT.” – PROVERBS 22:6
At Holy Word Early Learning Center, our most important work is sharing the good news of the Gospel with your child. Through weekly chapel, daily Bible lessons & songs, and a Christian environment, we are here to help you in the Biblical instruction of & teaching of Christian values to your little one.
Geared toward working parents of little ones between the ages of 1 and 4 years old, the Early Childhood program at Holy Word Early Learning Center runs Monday through Friday, 7am-6pm, with drop-off & pick-up “windows” designed to limit interruptions & distractions between the hours of 9:15am and 3:00pm.
HWELC generally follows Austin ISD’s lead on any weather-related delays or closures; however, we do operate a year-round program without a spring break or extended summer break.
A Full-Time Program
Play is an essential part of young children’s learning and development; therefore HWELC’s Early Childhood curriculum is built on play-based, active learning. By using the Key Developmental Indicators of the High Scope curriculum, teachers create learning experiences that support exploration and encourage creative imagination. Through this kind of active learning, children obtain cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills that lay a firm foundation for all the years beyond early childhood.
Play-Based Learning
Teachers at Holy Word Early Learning Center have not just a love for children, but a love for caregiving, encouragement, and guiding. With a broad range of experience from their own personal and professional lives, the Early Childhood teaching team is full of warm, wise, and welcoming educators eager to partner with parents in the raising of their precious children.
All staff are CPR & First Aid certified and complete 30 hours of professional development every year.
Nurturing, Qualified Teachers
Each classroom has its own schedule depending on age & development, but all classes share a weekly theme and include a daily Bible lesson, music & movement, centers, story time, arts & crafts, and free play.
