Spiritual Development
“TRAIN UP A CHILD IN THE WAY HE SHOULD GO; AND EVEN WHEN HE IS OLD, HE WILL NOT DEPART FROM IT.” – PROVERBS 22:6
At Holy Word Early Learning Center, our most important work is sharing the good news of the Gospel with your child. Through weekly chapel, daily Bible lessons & songs, and a Christian environment, we are here to help you in the Biblical instruction of & teaching of Christian values to your little one.
Our Pre-K program begins preparing children for Kindergarten by more closely following a traditional school year schedule. Operating with core hours of 8:30am to 4pm Monday through Friday, care is also available from 7-8:30am and 4-6pm. Our Pre-K class is for children who will be 4 on or before September 1st.
HWELC generally follows Austin ISD’s lead on any weather-related delays or closures; however, we do operate a year-round program without a spring break or extended summer break.
A Full-Time Program
Play is an essential part of young children’s learning and development. HWELC uses HighScope curriculum, which is built on play-based active learning. By using the Key Developmental Indicators of HighScope, teachers create learning experiences that support exploration and encourage creative imagination. Through this kind of active learning, children obtain cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills that lay a firm foundation for all the years beyond early childhood.
HighScope Curriculum
The Pre-K teachers at HWELC have a love for children and for teaching. At the this age level, teachers are formally teacher-trained and/or have the equivalence of education through experience, and are fully equipped to prepare children for their transition to Kindergarten.
All staff are CPR & First Aid certified and complete 30 hours of professional development every year.
